A Denial of Service attack on some of the internet’s Domain Name Servers today is causing some of our affiliates to be unable to locate and connect to our servers in Chicago.

DNS servers are the backbone of the internet, they translate word based URL’s like “virtualvoice.info” into the numerical IP address of the machine hosting the pages. Much of our software is written to connect using those dedicated, unchanging numerical IP’s of our servers instead of the URL. But still some clients connected to certain ISP’s are showing up as having dropped offline. As this is an issue with connectivity at the local side, there’s nothing that can be done from our end beyond waiting for the attack to be countered, or end.
